BUDDIG

MEDIA CAMPAIGN: THE PERFECT SANDWICH

Buddig, the lunch and deli meat brand commissioned a study to find the “perfect sandwich”.

Together with our research partner OnePoll, we conducted an online poll to ask 2,000 Americans what ingredients make the “perfect sandwich”. Commissioned by Buddig ahead of National Sandwich Month, the findings were used to create a data-driven news story for the lunchmeat brand.

Not only did the study reveal that the perfect sandwich consists of tomato (54%), cheddar cheese (39%) and Black Forest ham (39%), it also found that the average American craves a sandwich four times a week, and two in three claimed they could live on sandwiches alone for a full week.

The story also highlighted money-saving benefits of sandwiches, including the stat that 42% were actively looking for ways to cut down the cost of food, and sandwiches were a good money-saving option for 67% of respondents,

Our research also revealed other favorite (and least favorite) ingredients:

  • Barbecue sauce, mayonnaise and honey mustard topped the list, all at 58%, with ranch (26%) the least favorite.

  • Regular ham, honey turkey, honey ham and Black Forest ham all ranked equally as favored meat options. Cheddar, Swiss cheese (36%) and American cheese (36%) were top choices, with Gruyere (1%) the least favorite cheese.

  • As for the bread, whole wheat was the top choice. Sourdough followed closely, while multigrain was the third most popular option.
