KAHOOT!

MEDIA CAMPAIGN: TRIVIA TIME

We worked with Kahoot! on a data-driven news story campaign for the start of a new school year.

Campaign

Kahoot! wanted to explore how much parents and their children know and understand about each other’s interests. We conducted an online study of parents with kids ages 3–12, with our polling partner, OnePoll to find out.

The research revealed some interesting findings – not only do parents and their kids have a lot to learn about each other's interests but the survey suggested doing so could be an effective way to bring families closer together.

Heart-warming insights included the fact kids tend to get excited when their parents take an interest in or show knowledge about something they like, according to 63% of adults polled. And 61% said they are eager to learn more about their kids’ hobbies or interests.

Our online poll also tested parents’ knowledge of kids’ pop culture. While two in five were familiar with the movies “Frozen” (43%) and “Moana” (42%) as well as the viral phenomenon “Baby Shark” (40%), only 29% knew of the TV series “Steven Universe.” As for the children and their music knowledge? 6–12-year-olds were more likely to identify an Adele hit than one by the iconic Rolling Stones (41% vs. 28%).

The story garnered some fun headlines on major news and lifestyle titles. Kahoot! also published the survey highlights and animated infographic on a dedicated blog post, which was linked from a number of high-ranking sites.
